Samoa Joe: Wrestling Navajo Warrior In His Last Match Was A No Brainer

Samoa Joe loves taking care of his friends.

Back in November 2025, Joe made headlines when he wrestled The Navajo Warrior at an Impact Zone Wrestling show. Aside from the fact that it was Joe’s first indie match since 2015, this also turned out to be the final match of Navajo Warrior’s career.

Speaking with Fightful Overbooked’s Joel Pearl for a new interview, Joe talked about his decision to take part in the match.

“I’ve just known Steve since I started. He was one of the few microcosm of promoters that were running in the west, especially in the Southwest. He was a guy that gave me a lot of work early on and believed in me enough to give me a shot. We’ve always maintained a great relationship, I’ve seen him at various points of my career at different places. When he asked me to do it, him being so close to my trainer at the time, it was a no brainer. Sometimes you’ve gotta take care of your friends, especially the ones that helped you out.”
